WHERE DREAMS TAKE SHAPE

Cairns International Tennis Centre

The Cairns International Tennis Centre project included the design and construction of a brand new roof to be built over the centre court at the facility. The AUD$2.8million upgrade was jointly funded by the Cairns Regional Council and the Australian Federal Government for completion in July 2020 and is owned by the Cairns Regional Council.

Fabritecture worked with Field Construct for the D&C contract of two custom barrel vault PTFE architectural structures. Field Construct is a highly reputable commercial construction company, headquartered in Cairns with another office in Toowoomba.

The project was completed not only to provide the facility with additional weather protection from rainfall and the strong sun of Far North Queensland, but also to allow elite level play year round. The facility hosts the annual Cairns International Pro Tour tournament and is working to secure future international events such as the Fed Cup and David Cup matches.9138
