Stadium Roof & Canopy Design

Fabritecture has the capability, skills, and experience to deliver lightweight tension membrane roofing for premium stadium venues around the world. Working in collaboration with world-renown stadia design teams, Fabritecture brings vast experiential knowledge of tensile fabric materials and their unique behaviours in different design parameters including complex geometry and long spans.

Our stadium roofing solutions focus on a combination of innovation and creativity to meet the architectural design intent that take into account the practicalities of installation right from concept design. During design development, we assist teams with material decisions.

ETFE foil roofs are a popular choice for sporting stadiums as ETFE is a low weight, highly transparent membrane capable of transmitting up to 92% light. It is chosen for stadium projects featuring natural pitches which require full spectrum natural light and UV transmission to maintain natural growth whilst also providing weatherproof protection to grandstands and patrons below. ETFE’s long life (40+ years), coupled with recyclability and low carbon footprint, makes it the material of choice for projects requiring Green Star and LEED certification.

PTFE coated fiberglass membrane is also a highly regarded lightweight cladding for stadium roofing due to its high durability (with a design life of 35+ years) and high tensile strength, providing the ability to span long distance. PTFE is selected for its low maintenance and translucency which utilises natural light to create an ambient atmosphere underneath. Due to its Teflon coating (which has a low friction co-efficient), it cleans well with the action of rain and requires little maintenance over time. It offers exceptional quality, strength and a long life span.

We love sport. That’s why we’re passionate about utilising ambitious lightweight architecture to design and build iconic structures for sporting legacies.
