Fabritecture Australia was engaged to design and construct a new atrium canopy as part of a major upgrade to the facilities at Somerset College in Mudgeeraba on the Gold Coast.
Crafted from durable PVC- TX30 III, the canopy ensures longevity, optimal solar transmission, and superior sound absorption—qualities essential for a vibrant educational setting. Fabritecture introduced black structural steel, setting a new aesthetic standard while enhancing durability and visual appeal.
In addition to the impressive canopy, vertical wire screens were installed along the level 1 balcony to complement the existing balustrading. The vertical wire screens provide floor-to-ceiling security for an educational space where children are encouraged to challenge their physical environment. The screens were constructed using the highest quality stainless steel cables and fittings, ensuring longevity beyond the principal’s requirements with minimal maintenance expected. 23046
