Tennis Auckland has appointed Fabritecture NZ Ltd to design and build a new roof over centre court at Manuka Doctor Arena, home of the ASB Classic.
The $15 million project will see a fabric canopy installed over centre court, creating a covered venue holding 3,500 for the ASB Classic and close to 4,000 for concerts. Construction runs in stages from late 2026, moving through building consent and fabrication to on-site works, with completion scheduled for July 2027 ahead of the 2028 ASB Classic.
David Gullis, co-owner and Chief Business Development Officer of Fabritecture NZ Ltd, said: “We are thrilled to be working with Tennis Auckland, who have been professional and clear about the project requirements from the outset.”
The arena has hosted tennis in Auckland since 1922 and international tennis since 1956. A roof over centre court has been close to 20 years in the planning.
