Fabritecture USA supplied and delivered a custom PTFE fabric system for the CASSF facility in San Diego, California, a coastal water and waste management facility operated under demanding environmental conditions. Comprising four individual canopy structures across a total area of 2,362.40 sqft | 219.7 m², the system provides robust, long-term weather protection for critical process equipment and pipework operating in an active industrial setting.
Fabricated by Fabric8 using Chukoh Skytop PTFE (Grade FGT800), the canopies were engineered to perform reliably in a salt-air coastal environment, where UV exposure, moisture, and chemical resistance are non-negotiable requirements.
Built for industrial performance: Each of the four barrel-vault canopy structures shelters sensitive process equipment and pipework from the elements, enabling uninterrupted site operations year-round.
Coastal durability: Chukoh Skytop PTFE was selected for its proven resistance to UV degradation, salt air, and chemical exposure, critical at a coastal facility exposed to the Pacific Ocean environment.
Clean, minimal form: The crisp white fabric and white steel framework sit cleanly within the industrial site, providing functional coverage without visual clutter across a complex, pipe-heavy environment.
Low-maintenance by design: The self-cleaning properties of PTFE reduce ongoing maintenance burden, an important consideration for an operational facility where downtime is costly.
Precision supply and delivery: As a supply-only scope, Fabritecture USA managed the full fabrication and delivery coordination to ensure panels arrived on site ready for installation to program.
PTFE fabric’s long service life, typically exceeding 25 years, reduces the frequency of replacement and associated material waste. Its self-cleaning surface minimises the need for chemical cleaning agents, and the lightweight structural system reduces the overall material demand of the canopy solution compared to conventional roofing.
