Fabritecture was engaged to design, engineer, fabricate, and install a retractable shade structure for Palmerston’s SWELL Centre (Swimming Wellness Events Leisure Lifestyle) located in Darwin, NT.
Our solution comprises 12 independent motorised remote-controlled modules, and 5 manually operated modules. Each shading module provides a full range of shading customisations from fully open to fully closed positions.
Our structural, electro-mechanical, and integration solution for this application was developed to the highest standards and heavily focused on aesthetics, function, reliability, comfort, and safety. The variable shade system for the centre was designed to withstand 60km/h sustained winds when fully extended and safely retract automatically during stronger winds. 19154
