As part of a AUD$15.4 million redevelopment, the pool at Parap Leisure Centre underwent a complete upgrade, including a 50m pool, 25m pool, new office, entry, kiosk/café, user amenities & limited dry and zero depth wet play area.
Fabritecture’s scope for this project was the design & construction of the wide-span outdoor pool shade canopy. The structure has a width of 50m and utilises Serge Ferrari TX30-III fabric to deliver an ambient yet functional shade solution.
The steelwork design appears simple, however spanning 56m using a single CHS designed to resist cyclonic wind loads required a large 460mm diameter CHS pipe that was anything but simple to install! We completed lift studies before lifting the steelwork to ensure the lifting method would not overstress the steelwork. 16202
