Fabritecture was engaged by BESIX Watpac for the design and construction of the ETFE roof systems at Christchurch City Council’s One New Zealand Stadium at Te Kaha, New Zealand. With a seating capacity of up to 30,000, the venue will become a major destination for sport, entertainment, and community events.
Fabritecture completed the installation of 61 ETFE cushions and 9 single-skin ETFE cassettes, forming the stadium’s lightweight roof system. ETFE is widely used in stadium architecture for its ability to transmit high levels of natural light and UV, creating bright, energy-efficient environments and supporting the needs of modern sports venues.
In addition to the ETFE roof systems, Fabritecture delivered a series of non-tensioned PVC smoke baffles designed to meet the arena’s fire-engineering requirements.
