Fabritecture was engaged to design and construct the replacement of the existing ETFE roof system at KC LIVE! in Kansas City. The project involved the removal and replacement of damaged single-layer ETFE panels, restoring performance, durability, and long-term weather protection to this commercial venue.
Delivered under a Design and Construct contract, the scope included the engineering, supply, and installation of a new single-layer ETFE system using 300 micrometer fritted, laminated Nowofol ETFE.
The membrane was supplied by Fabric8 and fabricated by Nowofol, ensuring precision manufacturing and consistent material performance across the structure.
The total plan area spans 26,220 sqft, forming a single ETFE structure within a high-traffic commercial environment.
Targeted replacement
This project required careful removal of broken ETFE panels while maintaining surrounding structural integrity and minimizing disruption to the venue.
High-performance ETFE system
The selected Nowofol 300 micron fritted, laminated ETFE provides light transmission, durability, and long-term resistance to environmental exposure.
Live commercial environment
Working within an operational commercial precinct required coordination, staging, and controlled installation sequencing.
The replacement restores the original architectural intent while enhancing reliability and long-term performance.
By upgrading the ETFE system, the venue maintains its open, light-filled atmosphere while ensuring structural integrity and continued use for commercial events.
