This unique tensile fabric venue was designed and constructed by Fabritecture to accommodate business, events, and the local community during the construction of the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre.
The lightweight structure which was built on a floating platform on Darling Harbour, features a painted steel truss support system clad with premium PVC coated Polyester fabric (on the roof) and translucent ETFE (for the side walls). It was designed and engineered to satisfy the client’s requirements for durability, portability, low maintenance, and sustainability with all materials used being 100% recyclable. The addition of the LED lighting system creates a unique experience for those within and viewing the structure, and a creative way to brand any event held at the Pavilion.
The portability of the Dockside Pavilion structure has created future opportunities once the venue is no longer needed on the Harbour, thus illustrating the sustainable nature of lightweight structures over conventional buildings. 13307
