Fabritecture was selected to design and construct a custom PTFE shade canopy for the newly developed Turn 1 at Churchill Downs Racetrack, one of the world’s most iconic sporting venues and the home of the Kentucky Derby.
Spanning 65,000 sqft (6,039 m²), the custom PTFE canopy delivers extensive shade coverage for guests in the new multi-level Turn 1 facility. Fabritecture’s role included the design, fabrication, and installation of the tensile structure, ensuring it complemented the sleek architectural lines of the redevelopment.
Elegant functionality: The canopy was engineered to provide both comfort and weather protection while enhancing the visual identity of the terrace.
Light & ventilation: The PTFE membrane allows natural light to filter through and supports airflow, creating an open and welcoming environment.
