As part of the Australian War Memorial’s multi-stage $500+ million redevelopment, Fabritecture designed and constructed an ETFE canopy over the Glazed Link, a contemporary connection between the Main Building and the new Anzac Hall.
The canopy comprises 26 panels of three-layer ETFE cushions. The top layer features varying frit patterns for solar control and visual interest, while the mid and top layers use clear UV cut ETFE to protect visitors from glare and harmful UV rays without reducing natural light.
The Glazed Link provides a bright, weather-protected space that unites heritage and modern architecture, enhancing visitor flow and comfort. This installation supports the redevelopment’s goal of expanding, and modernising the Memorial while keeping it open to the public, delivering a durable, low-maintenance solution for this nationally significant site. 21133
