Fabritecture was contracted for the design & construction of a 3-layer ETFE pneumatic cushion skylight on top level of the existing the multi-storey car park at Sydney Airport in Mascot NSW. Clear ETFE was selected for all three layers to provide the maximum light transmission into the space below.
Covering approximately 217m2 (2,335ft2), there are 10 ETFE cushions within the structure. The outer layers of the cushions comprise of 200um ETFE foil and the middle, non-structural layer, 80um ETFE foil. Fabritecture was also responsible for the design and construction of the aluminium façade cladding around the perimeter of the skylight which comprised 4 mm aluminium wall cladding with double sided powder coated finish to match the existing steel work. 21171
