Bank of Indonesia
Award: LSAA Award of Excellence (Large Projects)
Location: Jakarta, Indonesia
Size: 2,651sqm (28,535sqft)
Fabric: ETFE
The Bank of Indonesia ETFE dome, covering approximately 2,700m² (28,535ft²), showcases impressive architectural innovation. ETFE was chosen for its exceptional light and UV transmission, allowing abundant natural light to illuminate the dome’s interior. The project also features smaller conical structures known as Water Harvest Canopies, enhancing both aesthetics and functionality. To meet the tight project timeline, the design and construction schedule was remarkably compressed from the usual 7-8 months to just 3-4 months.
Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the team successfully coordinated a global supply chain across Europe, Oceania, and Asia, effectively addressing procurement and logistics issues. This project not only exemplifies cutting-edge design but also demonstrates resilience and adaptability in the face of unprecedented challenges.
